Mark 4:1-41

Be YOU hearing.ἰδοὺ Look!ἐξῆλθεν Went outthe (one)σπείρων sowingσπεῖραι. to sow. 4  καὶ Andἐγένετο it happenedἐν inτῷ theσπείρειν to be sowingwhich [seed]μὲν indeedἔπεσεν fellπαρὰ besideτὴν theὁδόν, way,καὶ andἦλθεν cameτὰ theπετεινὰ birdsκαὶ andκατέφαγεν ate downαὐτό. it. 5  καὶ Andἄλλο another [seed]ἔπεσεν fellἐπὶ uponτὸ theπετρῶδες rocky [place]καὶ andὅπου whereοὐκ notεἶχεν it was havingγῆν earthπολλήν, much,καὶ andεὐθὺς at onceἐξανέτειλεν it rose up outδιὰ throughτὸ theμὴ notἔχειν to be havingβάθος depthγῆς· of earth; 6  καὶ andὅτε whenἀνέτειλεν rose uptheἥλιος sunἐκαυματίσθη it was scorchedκαὶ andδιὰ throughτὸ theμὴ notἔχειν to be havingῥίζαν rootἐξηράνθη. it was dried up. 7  καὶ Andἄλλο another [seed]ἔπεσεν fellεἰς intoτὰς theἀκάνθας, thorns,καὶ andἀνέβησαν came upαἱ theἄκανθαι thornsκαὶ andσυνέπνιξαν chokedαὐτό, it,καὶ and.καρπὸν fruitοὐκ notἔδωκεν. it gave. 8  καὶ Andἄλλα other [seeds]ἔπεσεν fellεἰς intoτὴν theγῆν earthτὴν theκαλήν, fine,καὶ andἐδίδου was givingκαρπὸν fruitἀναβαίνοντα coming upκαὶ andαὐξανόμενα, increasing,καὶ andἔφερεν was bringingεἰς intoτριάκοντα thirtyκαὶ andἐν inἑξήκοντα sixtyκαὶ andἐν inἑκατόν. one hundred. 9  Καὶ Andἔλεγεν he was sayingὋς Whoἔχει is havingὦτα earsἀκούειν to be hearingἀκουέτω. let him be hearing. 10  Καὶ Andὅτε whenἐγένετο he got to beκατὰ according toμόνας, only (ones),ἠρώτων were questioning onαὐτὸν himοἱ the (ones)περὶ aboutαὐτὸν himσὺν together withτοῖς theδώδεκα twelveτὰς theπαραβολάς. parables. 11  καὶ Andἔλεγεν he was sayingαὐτοῖς to themὙμῖν To YOUτὸ theμυστήριον mysteryδέδοται has been givenτῆς of theβασιλείας kingdomτοῦ of theθεοῦ· God;ἐκείνοις to thoseδὲ butτοῖς the (ones)ἔξω outsideἐν inπαραβολαῖς parablesτὰ theπάντα all (things)γίνεται, is occurring, 12  ἵνα in order thatβλέποντες lookingβλέπωσι they might lookκαὶ andμὴ notἴδωσιν, should see,καὶ andἀκούοντες hearingἀκούωσι they might hearκαὶ andμὴ notσυνίωσιν, should comprehend,μή notποτε at any timeἐπιστρέψωσιν they should turn backκαὶ andἀφεθῇ it should be let go offαὐτοῖς. to them. 13  καὶ Andλέγει he is sayingαὐτοῖς to themΟὐκ Notοἴδατε have YOU knownτὴν theπαραβολὴν parableταύτην, this,καὶ andπῶς howπάσας allτὰς theπαραβολὰς parablesγνώσεσθε; will YOU have acquaintance with? 14  The (one)σπείρων sowingτὸν theλόγον wordσπείρει. is sowing. 15  οὗτοι Theseδέ butεἰσιν areοἱ the (ones)παρὰ besideτὴν theὁδὸν wayὅπου whereσπείρεται is being sowntheλόγος, word,καὶ andὅταν wheneverἀκούσωσιν they might hearεὐθὺς at onceἔρχεται is comingtheΣατανᾶς Satanκαὶ andαἴρει is lifting upτὸν theλόγον wordτὸν the (one)ἐσπαρμένον having been sownεἰς intoαὐτούς. them. 16  καὶ Andοὗτοί theseεἰσιν areὁμοίως likewiseοἱ the (ones)ἐπὶ uponτὰ theπετρώδη rocky [places]σπειρόμενοι, being sown,οἳ whoὅταν wheneverἀκούσωσιν they might hearτὸν theλόγον wordεὐθὺς at onceμετὰ withχαρᾶς joyλαμβάνουσιν they are acceptingαὐτόν, it, 17  καὶ andοὐκ notἔχουσιν they are havingῥίζαν rootἐν inἑαυτοῖς themselvesἀλλὰ butπρόσκαιροί temporaryεἰσιν, they are,εἶτα nextγενομένης occurringθλίψεως of tribulationorδιωγμοῦ of persecutionδιὰ throughτὸν theλόγον wordεὐθὺς at onceσκανδαλίζονται. they are being stumbled. 18  καὶ Andἄλλοι othersεἰσὶν areοἱ the (ones)εἰς intoτὰς theἀκάνθας thornsσπειρόμενοι· being sown;οὗτοί theseεἰσιν areοἱ the (ones)τὸν theλόγον wordἀκούσαντες, having heard, 19  καὶ andαἱ theμέριμναι anxietiesτοῦ of theαἰῶνος ageκαὶ andtheἀπάτη seductivenessτοῦ of theπλούτου richesκαὶ andαἱ theπερὶ aboutτὰ theλοιπὰ leftover (things)ἐπιθυμίαι desiresεἰσπορευόμεναι making their way inσυνπνίγουσιν are choking togetherτὸν theλόγον, word,καὶ andἄκαρπος unfruitfulγίνεται. it becomes. 20  καὶ Andἐκεῖνοί thoseεἰσιν areοἱ the (ones)ἐπὶ uponτὴν theγῆν earthτὴν theκαλὴν fineσπαρέντες, having been sown,οἵτινες whoἀκούουσιν are hearingτὸν theλόγον wordκαὶ andπαραδέχονται accept alongsideκαὶ andκαρποφοροῦσιν bear fruitἐν inτριάκοντα thirtyκαὶ andἐν inἑξήκοντα sixtyκαὶ andἐν inἑκατόν. one hundred. 21  Καὶ Andἔλεγεν he was sayingαὐτοῖς to themὅτι thatΜήτι Not whatἔρχεται is comingtheλύχνος lampἵνα in order thatὑπὸ underτὸν theμόδιον measuring basketτεθῇ it should be putorὑπὸ underτὴν theκλίνην, bed,οὐχ notἵνα in order thatἐπὶ uponτὴν theλυχνίαν lampstandτεθῇ; should be put? 22  οὐ Notγὰρ forἔστιν isκρυπτὸν (something) hiddenἐὰν if everμὴ notἵνα in order thatφανερωθῇ, it should be manifested,οὐδὲ neitherἐγένετο becameἀπόκρυφον (something) carefully concealedἀλλ’ butἵνα in order thatἔλθῃ it should comeεἰς intoφανερόν. manifest. 23  Εἴ Ifτις anyoneἔχει is havingὦτα earsἀκούειν to be hearingἀκουέτω. let him be hearing. 24  Καὶ Andἔλεγεν he was sayingαὐτοῖς to themΒλέπετε Be YOU looking atτί whatἀκούετε. YOU are hearing.ἐν Inwhatμέτρῳ measureμετρεῖτε you are measuringμετρηθήσεται it will be measuredὑμῖν to YOUκαὶ andπροστεθήσεται it will be addedὑμῖν. to YOU. 25  ὃς Whoγὰρ forἔχει, is having,δοθήσεται it will be givenαὐτῷ· to him;καὶ andὃς whoοὐκ notἔχει, is having,καὶ alsowhichἔχει he is havingἀρθήσεται will be lifted upἀπ’ fromαὐτοῦ. him. 26  Καὶ Andἔλεγεν he was sayingΟὕτως Thusἐστὶν istheβασιλεία kingdomτοῦ of theθεοῦ Godὡς asἄνθρωπος manβάλῃ might throwτὸν theσπόρον seedἐπὶ uponτῆς theγῆς earth 27  καὶ andκαθεύδῃ he may be sleepingκαὶ andἐγείρηται may be rising upνύκτα [at] nightκαὶ andἡμέραν, [by] day,καὶ andtheσπόρος seedβλαστᾷ may be sproutingκαὶ andμηκύνηται may be lengtheningὡς asοὐκ notοἶδεν has knownαὐτός. he. 28  αὐτομάτη Of its own selftheγῆ earthκαρποφορεῖ, is bearing fruit,πρῶτον firstχόρτον, grass-blade,εἶτεν nextστάχυν, stalk head,εἶτεν nextπλήρη fullσῖτον grainἐν inτῷ theστάχυϊ. stalk head. 29  ὅταν Wheneverδὲ butπαραδοῖ should give overtheκαρπός, fruit,εὐθὺς at onceἀποστέλλει he sends offτὸ theδρέπανον, sickle,ὅτι becauseπαρέστηκεν has stood besidetheθερισμός. harvest. 30  Καὶ Andἔλεγεν he was sayingΠῶς Howὁμοιώσωμεν might we likenτὴν theβασιλείαν kingdomτοῦ of theθεοῦ, God,orἐν inτίνι whatαὐτὴν itπαραβολῇ parableθῶμεν; might we put? 31  ὡς Asκόκκῳ to grainσινάπεως, of mustard,ὃς whichὅταν wheneverσπαρῇ it might be sownἐπὶ uponτῆς theγῆς, earth,μικρότερον smallerὂν beingπάντων of allτῶν theσπερμάτων seedsτῶν the (ones)ἐπὶ uponτῆς theγῆς— earth— 32  καὶ andὅταν wheneverσπαρῇ, it might be sown,ἀναβαίνει it comes upκαὶ andγίνεται becomesμεῖζον greaterπάντων of allτῶν theλαχάνων vegetablesκαὶ andποιεῖ is makingκλάδους branchesμεγάλους, great,ὥστε as-andδύνασθαι to be ableὑπὸ underτὴν theσκιὰν shadowαὐτοῦ of itτὰ theπετεινὰ birdsτοῦ of theοὐρανοῦ heavenκατασκηνοῖν. to tent down. 33  Καὶ Andτοιαύταις to suchlikeπαραβολαῖς parablesπολλαῖς manyἐλάλει he was speakingαὐτοῖς to themτὸν theλόγον, word,καθὼς according asἠδύναντο they were ableἀκούειν· to be hearing; 34  χωρὶς apart fromδὲ butπαραβολῆς parableοὐκ notἐλάλει he was speakingαὐτοῖς, to them,κατ’ according toἰδίαν private [spot]δὲ butτοῖς to theἰδίοις ownμαθηταῖς disciplesἐπέλυεν he was explainingπάντα. all (things). 35  Καὶ Andλέγει he is sayingαὐτοῖς to themἐν inἐκείνῃ thatτῇ theἡμέρᾳ dayὀψίας of eveningγενομένης having come to beΔιέλθωμεν Let us go throughεἰς intoτὸ theπέραν. other side. 36  καὶ Andἀφέντες having let go offτὸν theὄχλον crowdπαραλαμβάνουσιν they are taking alongαὐτὸν himὡς asἦν he wasἐν inτῷ theπλοίῳ, boat,καὶ andἄλλα otherπλοῖα boatsἦν wasμετ’ withαὐτοῦ. him. 37  καὶ Andγίνεται occursλαῖλαψ hurricaneμεγάλη greatἀνέμου, of wind,καὶ andτὰ theκύματα wavesἐπέβαλλεν was throwing uponεἰς intoτὸ theπλοῖον, boat,ὥστε as-andἤδη alreadyγεμίζεσθαι to be getting filledτὸ theπλοῖον. boat. 38  καὶ Andαὐτὸς heἦν wasἐν inτῇ theπρύμνῃ sternἐπὶ uponτὸ theπροσκεφάλαιον pillowκαθεύδων· sleeping;καὶ andἐγείρουσιν they wake upαὐτὸν himκαὶ andλέγουσιν are sayingαὐτῷ to himΔιδάσκαλε, Teacher,οὐ notμέλει it is of concernσοι to youὅτι thatἀπολλύμεθα; we are perishing? 39  καὶ Andδιεγερθεὶς having been raised upἐπετίμησεν he gave rebukeτῷ to theἀνέμῳ windκαὶ andεἶπεν saidτῇ to theθαλάσσῃ seaΣιώπα, Be silent,πεφίμωσο. be having been muzzled.καὶ Andἐκόπασεν abatedtheἄνεμος, wind,καὶ andἐγένετο came to beγαλήνη calmμεγάλη. great. 40  καὶ Andεἶπεν he saidαὐτοῖς to themΤί Whyδειλοί cowardlyἐστε; are you?οὔπω Not yetἔχετε are YOU havingπίστιν; faith? 41  καὶ Andἐφοβήθησαν they fearedφόβον fearμέγαν, great,καὶ andἔλεγον they were sayingπρὸς towardἀλλήλους one anotherΤίς Whoἄρα reallyοὗτός thisἐστιν isὅτι thatκαὶ alsotheἄνεμος windκαὶ andtheθάλασσα seaὑπακούει is obedientαὐτῷ; to him?
