John 8:12-59
8 12 Jesus come de talk to them again, e talk say: “Na me be the light of the world. Anybody wey de follow me no go ever waka for darkness, but e go get the light wey de give life.”
13 So the Pharisee people tell-am say: “Na you de talk about yourself. Wetin you de talk no be true.”
14 Then Jesus answer them say: “Even if I de talk about myself, wetin I de talk na true, because I know where I come from and where I de go, but una no know where I come from and where I de go.
15 Na the way people de judge una de judge;* I no de judge anybody at all.
16 And even if I judge person, I go judge-am the way e suppose be, because I no dey alone, my Papa wey send me dey with me.
17 Them still write-am for una Law say: ‘Wetin two witness talk na true.’
18 I de talk about myself, and my Papa wey send me de talk about me too.”
19 Then, them ask-am say: “Where your Papa dey?” Jesus come answer them say: “Una no know me or my Papa. If to say una know me, una for know my Papa too.”
20 E talk this things when e de teach for the temple, for the side wey the containers wey them de put money dey, but nobody hold-am, because im time never reach.
21 So e tell them again say: “I de comot go, and una go find me, but still, una go die inside una sin, and una no fit come where I de go.”
22 The Jew people come start to talk say: “Abi e want kill imself? Because e de talk say, ‘Una no go fit come where I de go.’”
23 E come still tell them say: “Una come from this earth, I come from heaven. Na this world una come from, but no be this world I come from.
24 Na im make I tell una say: Una go die inside una sins. Because if una no believe say na me be the person, una go die inside una sins.”
25 So them start to ask-am say: “Who you be?” Jesus come ask them say: “Why I de even talk to una self?
26 I get plenty things to talk about una and plenty matter dey wey I go judge. The truth be say, the Person wey send me de always talk true, and na exactly wetin I hear from-am I de talk for the world.”
27 Them no understand say na im Papa e de tell them about.
28 Then Jesus talk say: “After una don raise the Son of man go up,* na that time una go know say na me be the person, and say I no de do anything from my own mind, but na just as my Papa teach me, I de talk this things.
29 And the Person wey send me dey with me, e no leave me make only me dey, because I de always do the things wey de make-am happy.”
30 As e de talk this things, many people come put faith for-am.
31 Then Jesus come de tell the Jew people wey believe-am say: “If una continue to do wetin I talk, una really be my disciples,
32 and una go know the truth, and the truth go free una.”
33 Them come tell-am say: “Na Abraham children we be, and we never be anybody slaves before. Why you come de talk say, ‘Una go free’?”
34 Jesus come answer them say: “True-true, I de tell una say, everybody wey de sin na slave of sin.
35 Another thing be say, slave no de dey for im oga house forever, but the oga son de dey forever.
36 So if the Son don free una, una go really free.
37 I know say una be Abraham children, but una want kill me, because una no de accept the things wey I de talk.
38 I de talk the things wey I don see when I dey with my Papa, but una de do the things wey una hear from una papa.”
39 Them come answer-am say: “Na Abraham be our papa.” Jesus come tell them say: “If to say na Abraham children una be, una for de do the things wey Abraham do.
40 But now, una want kill me, me wey I be person wey tell una the truth wey I hear from God. Abraham no do like that.
41 Una de do the work of una papa.” Them come tell-am say: “No be sex wey no clean* them take born us. Na only one Papa we get, wey be God.”
42 Jesus come tell them say: “If to say na God be una Papa, una for love me, because I come from God, and I dey here. No be me send myself come, na that Person send me.
43 Why una no de understand wetin I de talk? Na because una no de listen to my word.
44 Una come from una papa wey be Devil, and una want do the things wey una papa want. Na killer e be when e start,* and e no stand well for the truth, because truth no dey inside-am. When e de lie, e de show the kind person wey e be, because na lie-lie person e be and na the papa of lie.
45 But as for me, na the truth I de tell una, because of this one, una no de believe me.
46 Who among una fit mention any sin wey I don commit? If na the truth I de talk, why una no de believe me?
47 The person wey come from God de listen to wetin God de talk, na im make una no de listen because una no come from God.”
48 The Jew people come tell-am say: “You no see-am now say that thing wey we talk that time correct say, ‘You be Sa·marʹi·tan, and demon dey your body?’”
49 Jesus come answer them say: “Demon no dey my body. I de honor my Papa, but una no de honor me.
50 But I no de do make people praise me, e get Person wey want make them praise me and na im de judge.
51 True-true, I de tell una say, if anybody de do wetin I talk, e no go ever die.”
52 The Jew people come tell-am say: “Now e don really clear say demon dey your body. Abraham die, and na so the prophets die too, but you de talk say, ‘If anybody de do wetin I talk, e no go ever die.’
53 You no big pass our papa Abraham wey die, abi you big pass-am? The prophets die too. Who you de claim say you be?”
54 Jesus come talk say: “If I de praise myself, my praise no go be anything. Na my Papa de praise me, the one wey una talk say na una God.
55 Still, una never know-am, but I know-am and if I talk say I no know-am, I go be lie-lie person like una, but I know-am and I de do wetin e talk.
56 Una papa Abraham happy no be small say e go see my day, and e see-am and e really happy.”
57 Then the Jew people tell-am say: “You never reach 50 years, still you don see Abraham?”
58 Jesus come tell them say: “True-true, I de tell una say, before them born Abraham, I don dey.”
59 So them carry stones to take stone-am but Jesus hide and comot from the temple.
