Luke 2:1-52
For that time, Caesar Au·gus′tus come give order say make them register everybody wey dey the earth.
(Them do this first registration for the time when Qui·rin′i·us be governor of Syria.)
And all the people go so that them go register them. Each of them go their own city.
So Joseph too comot from the city of Naz′a·reth for Gal′i·lee and go the city of David wey them de call Beth′le·hem wey dey for Ju·de′a, because e come from the house and family of David.
E go register with Mary, wey e don marry that time,* and wey go soon born.
As them dey there, time come reach for Mary to born.
And e born boy wey be im first pikin, e come use pieces of cloth wrap-am and carry-am put for the place wey them de put food for animals because room no dey for them for the place wey visitors de stay.
That time, some shepherds dey that same area, wey de stay for bush de watch their sheep for night.
At once, Jehovah angel come stand for their front and Jehovah glory shine around them like light, them come start to fear no be small.
But the angel tell them say: “Make una no fear, because see! I de tell una good news wey go make everybody really happy.
Because today, for David city, them don born the person wey go save una, wey be Christ the Lord.
And na the sign wey una go take know-am be this: Una go see one baby wey them use pieces of cloth wrap, wey them carry put for where them de put food for animals.”
At once, plenty-plenty army of angels come appear with that angel de praise God and de talk say:
“Make the God wey dey heaven get glory and for this earth, make people wey get God favor* get peace.”
When the angels don leave them go heaven, the shepherds come de tell each other say: “Make we de go Beth′le·hem now, go see wetin don happen for there, wey Jehovah don make us know.”
Them come go quick-quick and see Mary and Joseph, and the baby wey dey for where them de put food for animals.
When them see this one, them come tell people wetin the angel tell them about the pikin.
And wetin the shepherds talk really make all the people wey hear-am surprise,
but Mary start to keep all this word for im heart, de think deep about wetin them mean.
Then the shepherds go back and them de thank God and praise-am for all the things wey them don hear and see just as them don tell them.
After eight days, when e don reach time to circumcise the pikin, them come give-am the name Jesus, and na this one be the name wey the angel talk say make them give-am before im mama get the belle.
Another thing be say, when e don reach time to make them clean as the Law of Moses talk, them come carry-am come Jerusalem so that them go show-am to Jehovah,
just as them write-am for the Law of Jehovah say: “Every firstborn wey be boy must be pikin wey dey holy to Jehovah.”
And them give sacrifice as e dey for the Law of Jehovah say: “Na two turtledoves or two young pigeons una go give as sacrifice.”
And see! e get one man wey dey Jerusalem wey im name na Sim′e·on, na righteous man e be and e de worship God with all im heart. E de wait for the time when God go save Israel, and holy spirit dey im body.
Another thing be say, God don use holy spirit tell-am say e no go die until e don see the Christ wey Jehovah send.
Holy spirit come make-am come the temple, and as the papa and mama of Jesus carry-am come to do wetin them suppose do for-am* as the Law talk,
e come carry the pikin for hand and praise God de talk say:
“O Lord Wey High Pass, now your slave fit die in peace as you don talk-am,
because my eyes don see the way wey you go take save people,
wey you don arrange so that all the people go see-am.
Na light wey go remove wetin cover the people of the nations like darkness and e go bring honor for your people Israel.”
The papa and the mama of the pikin continue to surprise because of the things wey them de talk about-am.
Another thing be say, Sim′e·on bless them, and e tell Mary, the pikin mama say: “See! Them choose this pikin, so that e go make many people for Israel fall or stand up again, and e go be sign wey people go talk against,
(true-true, them go chuk you* with one long sword wey go pass inside your body), so that the things wey many people de think for their heart go fit show.”
Now, e get one woman wey be prophet, im name na Anna the daughter of Phan′u·el, wey come from the tribe of Asher. This woman don old. Na seven years e live with im husband after them marry,*
but now, e don be widow, and e dey 84 years. E de come the temple everytime, de do holy work day and night as e de fast and de always pray with all im heart.
Then for that same time, e come near them and start to thank God and de tell all the people wey de wait for the time when God go save Jerusalem, about the pikin.
So when them don do everything as e dey for the Law of Jehovah, them go back to Gal′i·lee to their own city, wey be Naz′a·reth.
And the pikin continue to grow and de strong and de get sense more-more, and God continue to de happy with-am.
That time, im papa and mama de always go Jerusalem every year to go celebrate Passover.
And when e dey 12 years, them go Jerusalem as them de always do for the festival time.
When them don do the festival finish and them de come back, Jesus wey still be boy that time no follow them comot from Jerusalem and im papa and mama no notice-am.
Because them think say e dey among them for the group as them de travel together, them travel for one day before them start to find-am among their family people and people wey them know.
But as them no see-am, them go back to Jerusalem and them take time find-am well-well.
At last, after three days, them see-am for the temple as e sitdown for the middle of the teachers de listen to them and de ask them questions.
But the way e understand things and the kind answer wey e de give just de surprise all the people wey de listen to-am.
Now when im papa and mama see-am, them surprise no be small and im mama ask-am say: “My pikin, why you treat us like this? See, me and your papa don de find you everywhere.”
But e tell them say: “Why una de find me? Una no know say I must dey my Papa house?”
But them no understand wetin e de tell them.
Then e follow them and them go back to Naz′a·reth and e continue to put imself under them* and im mama sofri keep all this word for heart.
Jesus come de get sense more-more, de grow, and God and people de happy with-am.
