Luke 7:1-50
7 After e don talk wetin e want tell the people finish, e enter Ca·per′na·um.
2 Now e get one army officer wey im slave wey e really like, de sick well-well and nearly want die.
3 When e hear about Jesus, e send some elders of Jew people to go meet-am and tell-am make e come cure im slave.
4 Them come meet Jesus and start to really beg-am de talk say: “This man na the kind person wey you suppose do this thing for,
5 because e really like our nation and na im build our synagogue.”
6 So Jesus go with them, but when e don de near the house, the army officer don already send some people* come meet-am for road to tell-am say: “Oga, make you no worry yourself, because I no reach for you to come my house.
7 Na im make I no see myself as person wey suppose come meet you. But just talk say make my servant well so that e go well.
8 Because me self be person wey dey under other people, and I still get soldiers wey dey under me. When I tell this one say, ‘Go!’ e go go, when I tell another one say, ‘Come!’ e go come, and when I command my slave say, ‘Do this thing!’ e go do-am.”
9 When Jesus hear wetin the man talk, e surprise no be small, then e turn face the plenty people wey de follow-am and talk say: “I de tell una say, I never see anybody even for Israel wey get this kind strong faith.”
10 And when the people wey the man send go back to the house, them see say the slave don well.
11 After small time, Jesus come travel go one city wey them de call Na′in, and im disciples with plenty-plenty people be de go with-am.
12 When e near the gate of the city, see! some people de carry one man wey don die comot, wey be the only son of im mama.* Another thing be say, im mama na widow. And plenty people dey with-am wey come from the city.
13 When the Lord see the mama, e pity for-am and tell-am say: “Make you no cry again.”
14 So e waka near the dead body and touch the stretcher* wey them take carry-am. The people wey carry-am come stop. Then e talk say: “Young man, I de tell you say, get up!”
15 The man wey don die come get up, sitdown and start to talk. Then Jesus give-am to im mama.
16 Fear come catch all the people and them start to praise God de talk say: “God don make one big prophet dey among us,” and, “God don remember im people.”
17 And this news about-am spread full the whole Ju·de′a and all the village them wey dey around there.
18 Now the disciples of John come report all this things to John.
19 So John call two of im disciples and send them go meet the Lord to ask-am say: “Na you be the Person Wey De Come or make we expect another person?”
20 When the men come meet-am, them talk say: “John the Baptist send us come meet you to ask you say, ‘Na you be the Person Wey De Come or make we expect another person?’”
21 For that same time, Jesus cure the sickness of many people, even the ones wey get serious sickness. E pursue wicked spirit comot from people body and e make many blind people start to see.
22 E come answer John disciples say: “Make una go tell John wetin una don see and hear: Blind people don de see, people wey no fit waka de waka, people wey get leprosy de clean, deaf people de hear, people wey don die de come back to life and poor people de hear the good news.
23 Person wey no see any reason to fall* because of me go happy.”
24 When the people wey John send don comot, Jesus come start to talk to the plenty people about John say: “Wetin una go wilderness go see? Na tall grass wey breeze de blow up and down?
25 Wetin una come go there go see? Na person wey wear fine cloths? But people wey de wear fine-fine cloths and de live big man life na house of kings them dey.
26 So, wetin una really go there go see? Na prophet? Yes, na prophet e really be, and e even pass prophet by far.
27 Na this person them write about say: ‘See! I de send my messenger make e first you go, and e go make your road ready for you.’
28 I de tell una say among the people wey women born, e no get anybody wey big pass John, but the person wey small pass for the Kingdom of God big pass-am.”
29 (When all the people and the people wey de collect tax hear this one, them come talk say everything wey God de do correct, because John be don baptize them.
30 But the Pharisee people and the people wey know the Law well-well no gree follow the advice* wey God give them, as e be say John no baptize them.)
31 “So, na who I go use the people of this generation compare, and who them be like?
32 Them be like small children wey sitdown for market area, wey de talk to each other say: ‘We play flute for una, but una no dance, we cry no be small, but una no cry.’
33 Na so e still be, when John the Baptist come, e no chop bread and e no drink wine, but una de talk say: ‘Demon dey im body.’
34 But the Son of man don come, de chop and de drink, but una de talk say: ‘See! Na man wey de overchop and overdrink e be, and na friend of people wey de collect tax and sinners!’
35 Anyhow e be, na all the result* of the things wey person wey get better sense do, de show say e dey righteous.”
36 Now, one of the Pharisee people continue to beg Jesus say make e come follow-am chop, so Jesus enter the house of the Pharisee person and sitdown de chop for table.
37 And see! one woman wey them know for the city say na sinner come hear say Jesus de chop* for the house of the Pharisee person, e come bring one alabaster container of perfume oil.
38 After e don come Jesus back, e kneel down for where Jesus put im leg, e come de cry and de use im tears de wet Jesus leg, and use im hair clean the tears comot. E still sofri kiss Jesus leg and pour the perfume oil ontop the leg.
39 When the Pharisee person wey invite Jesus see this one, e tell imself say: “If na prophet this man really be, e for know the kind person wey this woman wey de touch-am be, say na sinner.”
40 But Jesus tell-am say: “Simon, e get something wey I want tell you.” E talk say: “Teacher, talk-am!”
41 “Two men be de owe somebody wey de borrow people money, one owe-am 500 de·nar′i·i, but the other one, 50 de·nar′i·i.
42 When them no get anything wey them go take pay-am back, e come forgive the two of them kpatakpata, so which of them go love-am pass?”
43 Simon come answer-am say: “I de think say na the one wey e forgive pass.” Jesus come tell-am say: “Your answer correct.”
44 So Jesus turn face the woman and tell Simon say: “You de see this woman? When I enter your house, you no give me water make I take wash my leg, but this woman wet my leg with im tears and wipe-am with im hair.
45 You no kiss me, but from the time wey I come inside this house, this woman never stop to kiss my leg.
46 You no pour oil for my head, but this woman pour perfume oil for my leg.
47 Because of this one, I de tell you say, even though say im sins plenty,* them don forgive-am, because e show plenty love. But person wey them no forgive plenty sins de show small love.”
48 Then e tell the woman say: “I don forgive your sins.”
49 The people wey sitdown for table with-am come de talk to each other say: “Who be this man wey de even forgive sins?”
50 But e tell the woman say: “Your faith don save you. Go, make e better for you.”*
