Matthew 2:1-23
2 After them don born Jesus for Beth′le·hem for Ju·de′a for the time of Herod* the king, see! people wey de use star talk wetin go happen, come from East to Jerusalem,
2 them talk say: “Where the pikin wey them born, wey be the king of Jew people? Because we see im star when we dey for East, and we come to show-am respect.”*
3 When King Herod and all the people for Jerusalem hear this one, the thing worry them no be small.
4 E come gather all the chief priests and scribes,* and ask them about the place wey them go born the Christ.*
5 Them tell-am say: “Na for Beth′le·hem for Ju·de′a, because the prophet don write-am before say:
6 ‘And you, O Beth′le·hem wey dey the land of Judah, all the other governors for Judah no suppose see you as city wey no dey important, because na from you the one wey go rule, wey go be like shepherd for my people Israel go come from.’”
7 Then Herod come do one secret meeting with the people wey de use star talk wetin go happen, e come ask them to really know the time wey the star appear.
8 When e de send them go Beth′le·hem, e tell them say: “Make una go and sofri check where the pikin dey. When una don see-am, make una come tell me so that me self go go show-am respect.”
9 After the king don tell them this things, them come de go. Then the star wey them see when them dey for East come start to direct them, until e stop ontop the house wey the pikin dey.
10 As them see the star, them happy no be small.
11 And when them enter the house, them come see the pikin with Mary im mama. Them come kneel down and bow down for-am. Them still open their box and give-am gifts—gold, frankincense and myrrh.
12 But because say God don warn them for dream say make them no go back to Herod, them come follow another road go their country.
13 When them don go, Jehovah angel come appear to Joseph for dream and tell-am say: “Get up, carry the pikin and im mama run go Egypt, and stay there until I go tell you wetin to do. Because Herod want start to look for the pikin make e kill-am.”
14 Joseph come get up and for night, e carry the pikin and the mama go Egypt.
15 E stay there until Herod die. This one make wetin Jehovah use im prophet talk happen, say: “I call my son come out from Egypt.”
16 Then when Herod see say the people wey de use star talk wetin go happen don deceive-am, e vex no be small. E come send people say make them kill all the boys wey dey Beth′le·hem and all the area wey dey around-am, from two years go down. This one match the time wey the people wey de use star talk wetin go happen, tell-am say them see the star.
17 That one make wetin Jeremiah the prophet talk happen, e talk say:
18 “Them hear person voice for Ra′mah, the person de cry and e de really shout. Na Rachel de cry because of im children. E no want hear anything wey go make im mind come down, because im children no dey again.”
19 When Herod don die, see! Jehovah angel appear to Joseph for dream for Egypt
20 and tell-am say: “Get up, carry the pikin and im mama, and go back to the land of Israel, because the people wey want kill* the pikin don die.”
21 So e get up and e carry the pikin and the mama, them come go back to the land of Israel.
22 But when e hear say na Ar·che·la′us replace Herod im papa as king of Ju·de′a, fear no let-am go there. Another thing be say, God don warn-am for dream. So e come go Gal′i·lee area.
23 And e start to live for one city wey them de call Naz′a·reth, so that wetin the prophet talk go happen, say: “Them go call-am Naz′a·reth person.”*
